Hanging out at church

Dorothy is one of the sweetest and coolest people I know! We met at a church in San Francisco. My dad is one of the pastors there overseeing the Mandarin department and Dorothy and her family was part of my dad’s congregation. When we were probably in senior year of high school, our parents would have church gatherings and we, as the kids, were made to go too. It wasn’t always the most exciting thing for us but those were the moments Dorothy and I would hang out. We both didn’t really want to be there but we made the most of it and bonded through being in the same less-than-ideal situation. We got to talk, get to know each other, and we just clicked on many levels. It has been a long time so I don’t remember what we did exactly but I do remember laughing and having fun together. She and I clicked really well and even though I knew she didn’t really like being at church, I always felt that she could be comfortable around me and it made those situations less cringy and more bearable. She’s slightly older than me so she always felt like the older sister that I never had and I was like the younger brother she never had. The times inbetween, as we continued to live our lives, I wouldn’t see her often but she was one of those people in my life that we just get each other and when we get reconnected, it doesn’t feel like much time has passed. She was an amazing person. She had her own strong and unique personality that was so fun, refreshing and inspiring. I wish we had more time to hang out and could catch up like old times. Going to miss you, Dorothy…
